There are very many types of hypnotherapy and it's important to be able to understand the differences. Put simply, hypnotherapy is a way of using hypnosis to help resolve a person's problem.

Put simply, hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, hypnotherapy refers to the practice of inducing hypnosis with a view to induce a therapeutic endpoint.  So when in hypnosis a person becomes very relaxed and yet very focussed than they would normally be.  The focus is inward looking and so opens a pathway to their subconscious mind. 

Hypnotherapy makes use of this process to enable therapy at a deep level.  It is important to understand though, that the person is always able to maintain control of what is happening.

Advanced hypnotherapy enables the hypnotherapist to look for the source of problems through regression, visualisation, suggestion and also utilises neuro-liguistic programming.
